Most motorcycles are considered a street bike, but what does that really mean? Well, some models are actually designed to be off-road vehicles, like dirt bikes, so street motorcycles are basically the models that are meant to ride the pavement! Our team at Maxey’s Motorsports loves motorcycles of all types, but we’re excited to share a bit more about what makes a street motorcycle just that.

1. The Size

There are many different types of street motorcycles, ranging from touring models to sport models, but they can vary pretty dramatically in size. However, street bikes will typically have a heavier frame to create a better center of gravity for riding on the road. More weight keeps the vehicle steadier and easier to control at higher speeds.

2. The Tires

Street bikes tend to have wide and large tires perfectly made to travel on paved roads for many miles. You want to find something with good traction and that rides smooth!

3. The Seating

Another feature that can identify a street motorcycle is the seating position. Of course the design will differ a bit between different motorcycle categories, but street models have a seat position that is intended for long periods of travel. So, they’ll be more comfortable and may have more cushioning! Some seats even have a nice backrest for your passenger. Some street models will have a seating position that tilts you forward slightly, but most are designed for easy cruising.

Street motorcycles are generally the most popular selection and our team is proud to carry a great inventory of models. Visit us in Oklahoma City, OK, where we serve Tulsa and Edmond, to see for yourself!
