Hunting with an ATV
When you’re a hunter, it’s crucial to have the right tools available. ATVs are especially useful for hunting in many ways and our team at Maxey’s Motorsports has a few tips to share with you! There are a handful of things to know before you take your ATV on a hunting trip.
Follow Common Courtesy
When you decide to use an ATV for hunting, it’s best to follow common courtesy on and off the trails. ATV riders should have an idea of how to conduct themselves amongst other riders and amidst nature. You should only operate your vehicle where allowed and you should keep it in proper working order to reduce noise and emissions.
It’s also best to be aware of other hunters in the area and wear appropriate clothing to easily be identified.
Understand the Limitations
Although ATVs are great for navigating trails and wooded areas, they do have their limitations. When you choose to hunt with an ATV, you’ll have to consider the laws and regulations associated with their use. For example, even though you’re using an ATV for hunting, you’re not permitted to operate a firearm while using the vehicle. You also can’t use your vehicle to draw out wildlife or chase them down.
Helpful Accessories
One of the many reasons people choose to use an ATV for hunting is for the wide array of useful accessories available to assist with the outcome. Having a winch, storage, and lighting are all great features for processing and transporting a hunted animal.
