Make a Plan

A motorcycle trip is no different than other vacations. You’ll need to do some planning to limit the road bumps and snafus. If you don’t book a site in advance, you have to resign yourself to campsite hopping until you find something with a vacancy. If you don’t bring enough food, you could spend part of your trip driving hours to the nearest grocery store. If you don’t pack the right motorcycle accessories, you could end up encountering issues on the road. If you don’t scope out the attractions and destination points in advance, you may get home only to realize you forgot to go to an iconic spot. Planning ahead lets you make the most of your limited vacation time.

Pack Well

When you travel away from home, it’s tempting to bring along more than you need. After all, you’ll be in the wilderness. Isn’t it better to have it and not need it than it is to need it and not have it?

Unfortunately, that mindset doesn’t work well with a motorcycle trip. You need to be selective about what you pack in addition to your motorcycle accessories.

The essentials for a motorcycle trip are shelter, clothing, medications, toiletries, food, water, and supplies to make a fire. Be selective about anything beyond this list. As you pack, opt for travel-size versions of your products. Why bring along a whole bottle of shampoo when you only need a few days worth? You can also look into using backpacking equipment since these items are designed to be light and space-saving.

Choosing Your Campsite

The first thing to consider is whether your intended site is motorcycle friendly (as not all are). Then you will want to ensure it provides all the amenities you seek (like electricity and water). Then all you need is a place near all your destination hot spots!
