Fixing Your Golf Cart's Flat Tire
Golf cart tires can go flat just like any other vehicle tires. It can be expensive and time-consuming to bring your golf cart to the dealership each time you get a flat tire, which is why many owners opt to learn this skill instead. Below we cover the steps to fixing your golf cart's flat tire.

Get The Supplies
Start by gathering up the essential supplies.
If you will be repairing the tire, you will need a flat-tire repair kit. This should include items such as pliers, a nozzle, a rasp, a probe tool, and a plug gun.
If you will be replacing the tire, you will need a socket, ratchet wrench, and the replacement tire.
In both situations, you will need a floor jack that can raise the golf cart.
Keep Safety In Mind
Fixing a golf cart tire does not seem to be a dangerous activity, but there are some safety risks. Set yourself up for success by:
- Wearing the right attire, which involves closed-toed shoes, sturdy gloves, and eye protection.
- Double checking that the engine is off and the parking brake is engaged before starting.
- Choosing a work space that is well-lit and well-ventilated.
Set Up The Golf Cart
Park your golf cart on a flat surface. Position the jack underneath the axle (and not under the golf cart body, which could result in damage).
Next, remove the wheel cover. This will allow you to access the lug nuts. Raise your golf cart so that the tire is above the ground, then remove the lug nuts and place them in a container to prevent losing them.
Fix The Flat Tire
The next step depends on whether you are repairing or replacing the golf cart tire.
Replacing The Golf Cart Tire
Position the new tire onto the spokes, then put on the lug nuts. Lower the jack so that you have enough pressure to keep the tire from slipping. Then, tighten the lug nuts. Finally, lower the golf cart back to the ground, remove the jack, and put the wheel cover back on.
Repairing The Golf Cart Tire
Take out any foreign objects still embedded in the golf cart tire and fully clean out the hole. Remove the nozzle adapter and put the plug head in the barrel, attach the nozzle, and put it into the golf cart tire's hole.
Insert the plug by cranking the handle, but leave about a finger's width of space on the plunger. There should be a little bit of plug stem outside the tire. Release the crank, repeat the process, then pull out the plug gun.
With the pliers, set the plunger in. This will involve pulling out a bit, then pushing it in completely. Using the razor, cut the plug stem at tread level. That way, it won't stick out. Finally, put the tire back onto the golf cart.
