There are several pieces of equipment and gear you can utilize to stay safe on the trail. Check out the list below to make sure you have the proper items!

1. Helmet: ATV riding safety starts with the most important piece of ATV gear, a helmet. Make sure your helmet is DOT-approved and fits properly. You should also consider purchasing one with face protection or goggles to keep debris, bugs, and wind out of your eyes while you’re riding. 

2. ATV Goggles/Glasses: ATV goggles or glasses are essential for protecting your eyes from dust and debris while riding on rough terrains, especially if you choose a helmet without this protection. Look for glasses that provide UV protection so you can ride comfortably under the sun. 

3. Gloves: Wearing gloves will provide extra grip when riding and can protect your hands from dirt, dust, and mud as you kick it up with your tires. Most riding gloves are designed with breathable materials, allowing them to keep your hands cool and comfortable in the heat as well. 

4. Boots: Wearing boots provides extra protection for your feet, ankles, and shins while riding an ATV. There are ATV boots specifically designed for both mud and rocky terrains, ensuring that you get the right amount of grip and support when riding. 

5. Chest Protector: ATV chest protectors work to help reduce injury from any possible debris or objects that could come flying up while driving over rough surfaces or across streams. Plus, it can add an extra layer of protection if you were to experience a crash. They should be snug but comfortable enough to not restrict movement while still providing adequate coverage of your torso.
