Engine Maintenance

Conduct regular inspections of your golf cart's engine, which will help you catch problems early on.

Be sure to:

  • Check the fluid levels, top off as needed, and make sure there are no leaks.
  • Look over the battery cables for fraying and address as needed.
  • Make sure battery cables are tightly connected.
  • Dry off any moisture on the distributor cap.
  • Check the spark plugs and air filter, replacing as needed.
  • Inspect the fuel lines and fix any cracks.

Brakes Maintenance

Your brakes are one of the most important parts of your gas golf cart! If they don't function properly, you could easily end up in an accident.

Be sure to:

  • Check that the pivots move easily.
  • Verify that the springs are clean and lubricated.
  • Make sure the shoes have at least 1mm of material as well as an even wear pattern.
  • Clean the bracket system and springs.

Tire Maintenance

Properly maintained golf cart tires will deliver a smooth riding experience, result in better fuel efficiency, and last longer.

It starts with the proper inflation. Overinflated tires will have reduced traction and increased wear and tear. Underinflated tires will have to work harder to travel the same distance and increase fuel consumption. Check the owner's manual for the recommended air pressure, then adjust each tire accordingly.

It's also important to double check the tread. Tread wears down naturally over time due to use. Eventually, it gets too worn down and the tires are not able to consistently maintain traction with the road, which can pose safety issues. Measure the tread and double check the manufacturer's recommendations. If the tread is too worn down, it's time to replace the tires.

Lights Maintenance

Every so often, test out your golf cart's lights. Bulbs can burn out over time and it's important to replace them as soon as possible. Remember to check the turn signals, headlights, and brake lights. If you notice a problem with the lights, it could be that the 12-volt fuse needs to be replaced.
