The all-terrain vehicle (ATV, also called a 4-wheeler) is a popular powersports vehicle for a variety of uses. From recreational trail riding to heavy-duty hauling and towing, an ATV is the perfect ride for any traveling you need to do over tough terrain.

One of the most common uses for ATVs is as transport for hunters. Four-wheelers are great for getting through the forest easily enough so you can locate your blind and get situated with all your gear. But you can make it better by adding some hunting-related accessories to your vehicle.

Maxey's Motorsports is your OKC four-wheeler dealer. Here is a short list of ATV hunting accessories to help you properly equip your four-wheeler for your next adventure.

Gun Scabbard/Rack

Also called a “gun boot,” a gun scabbard helps you to keep your guns secure and safe while you drive your ATV. You shouldn’t hold your gun while your ATV is in motion, nor should you sling it over your back. A gun scabbard is a much safer solution. It also helps to prevent your sighting from being knocked out of alignment. You can also look into gun racks that anchor onto the front of the ATV to provide you with faster access to your weaponry.

Regardless of whether you use a gun scabbard or a gun rack, unload the ammunition from your guns before mounting them. Make sure the locks are strong enough to keep your guns in place, too.

Winch & Tow Straps

If you ever need to pull another four-wheeler out of a ditch or haul your game into an open area, a winch and tow straps can be a very handy tool to have around. They also help you to get your own vehicle out of the muck when needed.

Camouflage Cover

Keeping your ATV hidden from your game will help you to have more success while hunting. And protecting your four-wheeler from the elements is also important. Get a camouflage cover to throw over your powersports vehicle while you’re hunting so that it’s protected and hidden from view.

Lights

Hunting often involves going out very early in the morning or staying out late into the afternoon, which can be rather dark during winter’s early sunsets. Solve the problem of reduced visibility by installing some brilliant LED lights on your four-wheeler. You can get light bars that mount to the front of your vehicle, lighting the path ahead to keep you safe. Just make sure you aren’t using the light to attempt to hunt after dark, and avoid riding your ATV at night.

Cargo Rack

ATVs are not known for their expansive storage space, and while they might have a small rack, it probably isn’t enough, especially when you’re hunting. Installing another larger cargo rack is a helpful solution to this issue. You’ll be able to carry around more stuff, including dressed game.

GPS

Don’t get lost in the woods without any hope of finding your way out! A GPS unit on your ATV is the best solution to finding your way around a new hunting round. Many models have a rescue beacon that you can activate in case you get hopelessly lost and cannot find your way back to safety.
